KIPP SoCal's New Teacher Cohort Sets the Stage for Success

KIPP SoCal's New Teacher Cohort Sets the Stage for Success

We’re excited to announce that over 100 new educators and instructional assistants have joined us for the 2024-25 school year, with an incredible 80-85% identifying as people of color.

Notably, 12 of these outstanding educators are recent graduates of the KIPP SoCal Teacher Residency Program, where they earned both their California teaching credential and a Master’s degree in just one year.

Their diverse backgrounds and perspectives are vital to creating inclusive, culturally responsive classrooms for our students. Research indicates that educators of color positively impact academic performance, social-emotional development, and behavioral outcomes, particularly for students of color.

With a student population of 82% Latinx, 16% Black, and 2% Multi-racial, our new teachers will foster a more inclusive learning environment and directly impact the academic and personal growth of our KIPPsters.

BKKO Recap

In late July, the cohort came together for our annual Big KIPPster Kick-Off (BKKO), a robust 5-day professional development conference for our new educators. This energizing week is dedicated to empowering educators with the tools they need to thrive, from mastering curriculum and content to fostering equity in the classroom and cultivating a positive school culture.

This program is a testament to our commitment to equipping our educators with strategies that optimize instructional time and produce nurturing, inclusive learning environments for all students. Click here to view the BKKO event recap video on our KIPP SoCal Instagram page.
