On August 2, over 1,200 passionate KIPP SoCal educators and team members gathered at the Los Angeles Convention Center for Start Strong, a regional professional development (PD) day designed to build momentum for an extraordinary new school year.
The event started with an enthusiastic welcome to new team members and spirited school roll calls, creating a palpable sense of unity. Participants then broke off into engaging sessions tailored to inspire and empower. The event concluded with a regional initiative of writing personalized postcards to students, adding a heartfelt touch to the event.
Our event co-hosts, Sarah, a proud KIPP Promesa alumna, and Sincere, an alumna of both KIPP Promesa and KIPP LA Prep, brought an infectious energy that resonated throughout the day and set an unstoppable tone for the year ahead.
We were honored to have Dr. Mahalia Hines, co-founder and board president of the Common Ground Foundation, as our keynote speaker. Her words left us deeply inspired and ready to pour into our purposeful work.
Start Strong was more than just a PD event—it was a celebration of the collective power and dedication that drives our community. When we invest in our team, they invest in our KIPPsters.
