MEDIA ADVISORY
Los Angeles, CA (April 15, 2023) — In honor of World Art Day, KIPP SoCal Public Schools—one of the nation's largest and most successful nonprofit public charter school networks operating 24 tuition-free, open-enrollment TK to 8th-grade schools in Los Angeles and San Diego—is proud to announce that it will host its 17th annual Museum of KIPP Art (MOKA) showcase and auction on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 6-9 p.m. at the California Science Center.
This year, it is estimated that more than 100 students and alums from across 18 KIPP SoCal schools will create, display and discuss their artwork at an engaging showcase and auction. All proceeds will benefit KIPP SoCal’s whole-child approach to a joyful, academically excellent, and enriching education.
MOKA is a beloved tradition that celebrates our exceptional student artists' innovation and creativity across KIPP SoCal while highlighting the importance of providing a well-rounded and immersive arts education. MOKA was founded in 2006 by Andy Hahn, a longtime art teacher at KIPP LA College Preparatory in Boyle Heights.
