Los Angeles, CA (May 14, 2024)— KIPP Promesa Prep, an award-winning public school serving grades TK-4, hosts a long-awaited ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, May 20, from 4-6 p.m. to celebrate the opening of its permanent campus in a repurposed retail space.
- What: KIPP Promesa Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
- When: Monday, May 20, 2024 from 4-6 p.m.
- Where: KIPP Promesa Prep — 1241 S. Soto Street, Los Angeles, CA 90023
- Program Speakers:
- Adriana Rodriguez, KIPP Promesa Prep Founding School Leader
- Liliana Alarid Sandoval, KIPP Promesa Prep School Leader
- Angella Martinez, KIPP SoCal CEO
- Evelyn Flores, former KIPP Promesa Parent
- Why: In 2021, KIPP SoCal merged with Endeavor College Preparatory Charter School — now formally known as KIPP Endeavor College Prep. This merger resulted in the acquisition and rehabilitation of KIPP Endeavor’s campus, which was situated within a refurbished mall complex. Despite the logistical hurdles of relocating amid the pandemic, the building was remodeled to accommodate KIPP Endeavor and KIPP Promesa, providing the school with a long-awaited permanent home in Boyle Heights. Although KIPP Promesa moved into their new home in 2021, they were unable to celebrate the occasion until now.
Since 2015, KIPP Promesa has provided a tuition-free, high-quality, award-winning public school education, serving grades TK-4 in the Boyle Heights community. Promesa has gained recognition as a top-performing LA County public school and has been most recently awarded one of the best elementary schools in California by US News and World Report.
KIPP Promesa firmly believes that the pathway to a brighter future for our children begins with excellence in education, starting from elementary school. “Promesa” means promise, and KIPP Promesa is committed to fulfilling that promise for our 400+ students, families, and the broader Boyle Heights community.
