South LA Community hosts fair for National Prevention Week

It’s National Prevention Week and across the country, city officials are teaming up with community organizations to raise awareness about substance abuse.

Schools and local leaders in the heart of South Los Angeles are also trying to address the numerous factors that can lead to addiction. 

School leaders at the KIPP Empower Academy and KIPP Academy of Opportunity say there is a public health crisis on South Figueroa Corridor that only continues to impact the community and students, from prostitution across the street from their campus to crime and substance abuse.
